When Women Gather: The Magic of Female Friendships

“I love my husband, but it is nothing like a conversation with a woman that understands you. I grow so much from those conversations.”
–Beyonce

Women have always gathered, from ancient caves to coffee shops, igroup texts to stone circles, witches covens to sleepovers. When women gather magic happens regardless of age, race, religion, experience, shape, colour or size.
Sharing stories, wisdom, life lessons and healing together forms a bond of sisterhood that extremely powerful. There is a shared experience that all women have and feel, which can only be understood fully by other women.
This kind of group bonding allows us to to cry and laugh without being judged. To talk about the frustrations and elations of the soul without worry of being labeled or feeling like we have to keep up the pretense of holding it all together. These groups allow for the emotion, without being named hysterical. Allow for passion, without being called crazy. Allow us to fully realise and express ourselves without fear.

You stand on the shoulders of thousands of amazing women. A winning line of strong, courageous females.
Those who have come before us and those who will come after us, –  just as we are each made of stars we are also made of each of them. – Rebecca Campbell.

Bali Goddess Retreats Beach Women

As women, we have and are still going through similar situations to one another.
We know what it feels like to be treated like second hand simply because we are female. Most of us have been termed good for nothing, our achievements discarded because of our gender. We are judged by what we wear and how we look constantly. – We have all felt this, and yet some of the loudest criticisms we face are from other women.
To form strong, intimate and supportive bonds with other women, you have to be able to be there for one another without expecting anything in return. Don’t be a judge. I read a great tweet once that said something along the lines of, ‘the first thought you have is what society wants you to think, the second is who you really are.’
Girls compete with each other. Women raise each other up.

These are the kind of women we aim to be, – the kind that see all women as sisters. T
