Super Green Smoothie for Stress

A diet rich in antioxidants is essential for combating the effects of stress on the body.

To start feeling great fast add a freshly made super food green juice or smoothie to your day and increase your vitamin and mineral intake.

This smoothie also contains ashwaganda root powder, a targeted herb for stress and anxiety reduction as well as cortisol hormone reduction.

The stress hormone cortisol stimulates fat and carbohydrate metabolism, resulting in an energy surge in your body. While this process is necessary for survival, it also increases your appetite. Elevated cortisol levels can also cause cravings for sweet, fatty, and salty foods, and it’s one of the main culprits behind putting on weight and finding it hard to release while stressed.

  • 2 1/2 cups almond milk
  • ½ tsp of ashwaganda powder
  • 2 cups spinach
  • 1/2 avocado
  • 1 cup pineapple chunks frozen or fresh
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds or coconut flakes
  • Optional  – add some protein (vegan or collagen powder) or real nut butter

Instructions

1.  Place all the ingredients in a blender

2.  Blend the ingredients in a high-speed blender for 2-3 minutes until you get a smooth and creamy texture

3. Taste the smoothie, adding more almond milk if it is too thick

4. Pour into a cup, and add fresh fruit toppings for garnish, if desired. You can also make into a smoothie bowl if you prefer and add fresh fruit and gluten free granola for a super meal!
